My favorite description of postpartum doula work comes from a Chinese phrase - parenting the parent. My goal is to provide the physical and mental space you need to heal your body, take care of your baby, and grow to understand their needs and personality. I want to hear your birth story, be there when your partner has to return to work, and fill your freezer.
Doulas are a non-medical resource to not only the birthing parent, but the whole family. In your home, I will provide emotional, practical, and educational support, including:
-
Assisting in newborn care by providing another set of hands or give parents a chance to rest
-
Supporting the family's feeding choices
-
Helping older children adjust and, if needed, keeping them busy
-
Prepping meals and snacks
-
Organizing baby items and light tidying up
Additionally, if needed, I can provide referrals to medical providers or other experts.
